UK Challenge Series at Silverstone Circuit

UK Challenge Series at Silverstone Circuit

Silverstone Circuit- 19th 20th September 2020

The third round of the UK Ferrari Challenge Series took place at the legendary Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit over the weekend. It was a great weekend for Team Graypaul Birmingham too as our drivers claimed several trophies over the course of the weekend.

Not only did the races of the Challenge Series provide excitement over the event- Ferrari owners were also able to share their passion for the Prancing Horse by taking part in an impressive parade on Silverstone circuit on Sunday when taking part in Passione Ferrari. This saw around 100 Ferrari models old and new, which included three Monza SP2’s, drive round the historic Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone.

Saturday

Trofeo Pirelli

Saturday got off to an incredible start for Lucky Khera as he converted his fifth pole position of the season into his fifth win, producing a storming drive to continue his domination of the Ferrari Challenge UK 2020 season. H. Sikkens (H.R. Owen London) and Paul Hogarth (Stratstone Manchester) battled from the beginning to try to get ahead of Khera and went into the first corner three wide. However this wasn’t enough to get ahead of Khera who got ahead with a comfortable lead, leaving Sikkens and Hogarth behind to battle for second and third place.

Coppa Shell

Jamie Thwaites ((JCT600 Brooklands Leeds) made a brilliant start in the first instalment of the Coppa Shell on Saturday and managed to pull away from the action behind him early on, driving a solid race to take his first victory of the season.

Behind him, a thrilling race for Paul Simmerson (Graypaul Birmingham) who managed to charge past Paul Rogers (JCT600 Brooklands Leeds) and Gary Redman (Graypaul Nottingham) during through in the early stages. However Simmerson couldn’t quite pass Alex Moss (Graypaul Birmingham) who placed in second place, in front of Simmerson in third.

Sunday

Trofeo Pirelli

After missing the qualifying race on Sunday morning it was unsure whether Lucky Khera would carry on his winning streak as he started the race right at the back. This allowed for H. Sikkens and Paul Hogarth to get a head start and battle for first place. However Lucky Khera had the front runners in his sight. After taking over Hogarth, Khera raced towards Sikkens to take the lead. Khera achieved this, but Sikkens got back in first place. Khera tried again and made his next move work- eventually taking a pole position and making for a comfortable advantage- a nail biting race for all!

Coppa Shell

The Coppa Shell got off to a very dramatic start as Graypaul Birmingham Driver, Paul Simmerson spun round on the first lap to be left trailing behind the rest of the field. However Simmerson put his skills to the test and worked his way back, eventually coming home in third place to claim his second podium of the weekend. Alex Moss (Graypaul Birmingham) duelled with Jamie Thwaites to place for second. Despite producing a very impressive drive, Alex Moss could quite get ahead of Jamie Thwaites and placed second.

Will Lucky Khera be able to keep his unstoppable winning streak going? We can’t wait to find out at the fourth and final stage of the 2020 UK Challenge Series which will be take place at Snetterton circuit on 09th -10th October.
